My current work is an exploration of plant/human inter/intra-action.
Inspired by post humanists like Rosi Braidotti and eco-feminists such as Donna Haraway this work questions traditional boundaries between plants and humans, and examines our entangled lives.
With collaborators Dr DAR Rogers and Frank Duffy I am examining:
-
the significance of thorns in religion, culture and story and what can be learned from these plants that live on the margins and both injure and protect
-
The possibility that invertebrates might be leaving behind works of art when they munch through leaves, subverting the notion of a "pest," wondering about non-human artistic agency and noticing holes in leaves as a marker of bio-diversity
This work is in its early stages of development.
